A Brush with Kindness (ABWK)
Volunteer
Come volunteer your time and give A Brush with Kindness!
Are you a leader? Do you want to lead your co-workers, church members, youth group, band mates or other associated and work with a homeowner in need of exterior repairs in the community? Teams are matched with appropriate homeowners based on several factors including size of project, experience and the size of the volunteer team. A Brush with Kindness projects typically take 2-4 days to complete.
Team Leaders:
Each volunteer group designates a Team Leader to recruit and organize a team of volunteers. Team Leaders organize, recruit and prepare their teams for the task of working on a home. The Team Leader is responsible for working directly with A Brush with Kindness staff and the homeowner to coordinate the work and supplies for their project.
Team Leader Training:
The Team Leader receives a 2-hour training session from A Brush with Kindness (ABWK) staff. The training will consist of information concerning:
- An Introduction to ABWK
- Working to revitalize neighborhoods
- Working and communicating with homeowners
- Work scope on their particular project
- How to prepare your home project for painting
- Volunteer team organization
- How to prepare your group for work days
- Equipment and materials suggestions
- Equipment and materials pick up and delivery
- Going over safety issues
- Going over a work completion checklist
