Thrivent
Builds 2007
We
are excited to announce that Habitat for
Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, Thrivent Builds
and Lutheran congregations will partner again
during 2007 to build a house for a family in
need of a safe, simple and decent home.
Thrivent
Builds with Habitat for Humanity is a $105
million financial, volunteer and advocacy
alliance between Thrivent Financial for
Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity
International. Throughout 2006 Thrivent
Builds provided funding and manpower for 313
homes which
were built across the United States with
families in need of simple, decent, affordable
housing. That's about one home built every
28 hours! It's an amazing and inspiring
accomplishment - and many are to thank for
making it happen. Habitat for Humanity and
the Juarez-Alcantara family were blessed to
participate in the 2006 program.
Preparations
have already begun for the Thrivent Builds 2007
program in Los Angeles. We will be
building a new construction single-family house
in Los Angeles near Imperial Highway and
Figueroa Street that will be ready for a family
to be home for the holidays next Fall.
From
the first nail to the last, building a home by
partnering with Thrivent Builds and Habitat for
Humanity is a profound experience. It's
not just concrete and wood, it's tears and
smiles, born of hard work and faith. And
it's the knowledge that you've not only helped
change a life, you've helped change a family!
None
of this is possible without you. We
need your help! Even if you can't swing a
hammer, climb a ladder or work on a roof,
there's a lot of work that goes into building a
house at every skill level. There's a lot
of "behind the scenes" work to do too.
