WILMINGTON FAMILY TO RECEIVE MUCH-NEEDED
HOME REPAIRS THANKS TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY’S “A
BRUSH WITH KINDNESS” PROGRAM & LOCAL
VOLUNTEERS
Los
Angeles, CA – (May
11, 2007) - Habitat for Humanity of Greater
Los Angeles (www.habitatla.org)
recently announced a three year commitment
to
Los Angeles called the “Building
A Greater L.A.” campaign that includes
the 2007 Jimmy Carter Work Project in
fall and its home repair program “A
Brush with Kindness.” A Brush with
Kindness serves low-income homeowners
impacted by age, disability and family
circumstances who struggle to maintain
their home. On Saturday, May 12 volunteers
from the Rolling Hills Covenant Church
worked alongside a family to make much-needed
repairs to their Wilmington home.
With
a moderate investment of funds
and volunteer labor, Habitat is
now able to help more local families
than ever before. Communities that
partner with Habitat for Humanity
become more familiar with their
neighborhoods, therefore assisting
in referring qualified homeowners,
and identifying neighborhood areas
that have the most need. During
the 2007 Jimmy Carter Work Project
taking place October 28 through
November 2, 100 homes will be completed.
Habitat is currently accepting
applications from families and
those who wish to nominate families
for A Brush With Kindness – To
apply contact 310-323-4663 or visit (www.habitatla.org).
