AmeriCorps*National Direct

AmeriCorps*National Direct presents the opportunity to serve the community directly.  Those who prefer a hands-on approach will serve members of the community in various ways from leading a team of construction volunteers to coordinating a build event, depending on the specific position.  AmeriCorps*National programs are open to U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent resident aliens ages 17 and older.  Successful candidates will posses a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and be a team player.  Goals of the Habitat AmeriCorps*National Direct Program:

  • "Get Things Done"
  • Strengthen Communities
  • Develop Skills and Citizenship in Members

Service Team:

  • Members are required to complete a minimum of 1700 hours, approximately 11 months of full time (40 hours per week) service. 
  • Members serve from September to August.

Benefits:

  • Living allowance of approximately $11,200 for the term of service (before taxes)
  • Education award of $4,725 upon completion of the terms of service
  • $200 per month housing allowance paid directly to the landlord
  • Health insurance and workers compensation insurance
  • 10 paid vacation days, 5 paid sick days, and 9 paid holidays
  • Student loan deferment on qualified student loans
  • Childcare assistance, if eligible
  • $60 reimbursement for work boots and construction clothes
