Volunteers


The “behind the scenes” work that supports our construction efforts is critical to the success of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (HFH GLA).  Committee members are long-term volunteers who perform vital work for Habitat for Humanity.

There are many opportunities for individuals to volunteer as committee members. To join a committee, please complete the following steps:

  1. Attend a Volunteer Orientation (recommended).
  2. Complete the online Volunteer Information Form.
  3. Contact the staff person listed at (310) 323-4663 for more information on committee activities and upcoming meetings. 

Requirements

  • We ask for a monthly commitment (approx. 4 hours per month). 

  • All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.

  • Complete the online Volunteer Information Form.

Committees

 Be a part of the Jimmy Carter Work Project 2007, the following committees need volunteers! 

  • Faith Relations Committee - This committee meets to develop relationships, secure volunteers, solicit gifts, and develop strategy within the faith community.  If you are interested or know a good candidate, please contact Patty Lee at (310) 323-4663 ext. 106 or plee@habitatla.org.

  • Gift In-Kind Committee - This committee needs 3-4 volunteers to help secure in-kind donations for the Jimmy Carter Work Project 2007.  Please contact Lydia Lujan at (310) 323-4663 ext. 110 or llujan@habitatla.org.

  • Corporate Supporters Committee - This committee needs 10 volunteers, please contact Shannon Valencia at (310) 323-4663 ext. 103 or svalencia@habitatla.org.

  • Food Service Committee - This committee needs 2 volunteers to help us plan our food services during the Jimmy Carter Work Project 2007! Please contact Pat Carroll at pedropat@aol.com.

  • A Brush with Kindness Committee - A Brush with Kindness is a new program in the community that enables low-income homeowners to make minor repairs on their homes with the help of volunteers.  These volunteers refer potential homeowners to the program, review applications, interview and inspect homes, as well as do the work alongside able-bodied homeowners.  Please contact Jenny Isaacs at (310) 254-6028 or jisaacs@habitatla.org.
