Construction Volunteer Groups

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (HFH GLA) partners with a diverse range of corporate, community, faith and educational groups to build common ground by sharing our vision of a world without poverty housing.  Such groups make major contributions to the construction of affordable, decent housing in our communities.  On-site construction work is the most popular of HFH GLA's volunteer opportunities for groups and we make every effort to incorporate all willing volunteers.  We build on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with Saturday construction workdays often booked months in advance.

Groups with up to 10-15 volunteers are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to sponsor organizations.  We generally have more groups that want to volunteer than funds to build homes! Please see below for more information on how Corporate Groups and Faith, Community and Educational Groups can be involved with volunteering on our construction sites and more, or simply submit the Group Registration form.

Corporate Groups

Working on a Habitat for Humanity construction site can be a great team building experience! Research shows that it takes six times longer to function as an effective, productive team when you have not had time to meet in person and share a common experience.

Company Team Build
A Habitat Company Build Day is an excellent way to engage your employees/members in a meaningful group experience. Company Build Days can be used as a reward for hard-working employees; an annual community service project; a team building experience for new employees; or simply a fun way to get to know a different side of your co-workers.

For a suggested donation of $2,500, up to 15 participants can spend a Saturday building a house as a team. Weekday (Wednesday, Thursday or Friday) build days are also available for a donation amount of your choice. For more information please call (310) 323-4663, ext. 119.

You may also get started by doing the following:

  1. Have the company contact person attend a Volunteer Orientation (recommended).

  2. Submit the Group Registration Form and indicate your interest in a Company Team Build.
